Project Name:  Technical assistance for justice and legal reform in Lebanon

Objective:  The overall objective is to improve the justice system, democratic processes and regulation of media, including freedom of expression, in Lebanon through progress on the reform in each sector. .

Duration: 18 months

Expert for justice and legal reform  CAT I (225 mandays)

Qualifications and skills:

• Master’s Degree in Law or related field; or bachelor degree in law or related field and the successful completion of either the examination of a bar association (accreditation to practice law) or the judicial institute training;
• Well-developed planning and organizational skills; strategic, advisory, analysis and reporting skills; well organized with attention to details; performant in teams and independently; capable to deliver under high pressure and demanding time-sensitive schedules; good inter-personal and oral and written communication skills. 

General professional experience:

• At least 7 years, of relevant professional experience in the justice sector, as a practitioner of legal professions (such as judges, prosecutors and judicial officers, lawyers), academic or related functions, in Lebanon.
• Working experience in development cooperation and/or working with donor funded projects;
• Working experience in public sector change and reform initiatives; advising leadership and policymakers on strategy, policy and organizational challenges;
• Working experience in coordination, planning and implementation of response plans/programmes, and in working within multi-stakeholder settings.

Specific professional experience:

• Demonstrated knowledge of the legislative and regulatory framework governing Lebanon’s justice system;
• At least three years of experience in conducting legal research, analysis and review and drafting legal documents; and in drafting policy papers, strategies, action plans and recommendations .

Language skills:

• Spoken and written English and Arabic at C1 level; o Spoken and written French at least at B2 level
