First graduates, in Adjara 🎓
Batumi Black Sea Vocational College 🇬🇪 has just handed out its first state-recognized, bilingual certificates in environmental protection🌲 and waste management🗑️ — programmes we helped design and launch with them, as part of our EBRD-funded project with Adjara Solid Waste Management Company to build a skilled local workforce for the region’s growing waste sector.
One number we’re proud of: more than half of all applicants were women, in a sector that’s traditionally been anything but. That wasn’t incidental — it was something we built the outreach and programme design around from day one.
These programmes are now part of Black Sea College’s regular offering, with a funding and delivery model in place to keep them running and growing after our role in the project ends — which, for us, is really the point.
